Donate Glasses with the Encinitas Lions Club

I hope you had a great and enjoyable weekend. Those that decided to stay around their Encinitas homes did not have any shortage of fun activities to do! Whether you attended a local firework show, checked out the San Diego County Fair, or opted to grill burgers in your back yard, I am sure you have some cool new memories!

Not long ago I wrote a post on the Encinitas Lions Club, a local non profit philanthropic organization that is dedicated to bettering communities local and abroad. A major focus of the Lions Club is sight preservation and aiding and assisting people with vision problems and blindness. The Encinitas Lions Club is composed of many wonderful people that have the ability to make dreams come true! One event that particularly deserves credit was the blind surfing event organized by the Lions club last September.

I have received many e-mails from people asking how to go about donating glasses. There is a yellow mailbox that serves as an eye glass drop center at Henry’s Market at the corner of El Camino Real and Encinitas Blvd in Encinitas. The prescriptions of donated eye glasses are later measured, the glasses and frames sterilized, and then distributed to many different parts of the world.
