Encinitas Community Park and Moonlight Beach

An added benefit to homes for sale in Encinitas will soon be the addition of Encinitas Community Park. Those looking for homes for sale in Encinitas or selling Encinitas homes will be interested to know that not only will they soon see the addition of a new park but also renovations to Moonlight Beach.

On Wednesday, the Encinitas City Council unanimously voted to issue $8 million in bonds for the project. The location of the new Encinitas Community Park will be on 44 acres south of Santa Fe Drive and west of the I-5, making it the city’s largest park.

The park on Encinitas real estate will feature a 13,000 square-foot skate park, a 2-acre dog park, and multiple fields for various sports including soccer, baseball, and softball that can also be used for several purposes. The improvements to Moonlight Beach will include adding sand to extend the beachfront as well as adding bathrooms and concession stands among other renovations.

There has been some discussion over whether or not choosing a debt-strategy is appropriate for this project, with some Encinitas residents even stating that they would have opposed the project had they known it would result in additional debt. The position of the city council is that adopting a pay-as-you-go strategy would lengthen the already almost decade long process of adding the park and renovating the beach.

Both projects broke ground this month and the park is expected to be completed by the end of 2013 with the additions to Moonlight Beach expected to attain completion by May of next year.
