Sand Replenishment on Encinitas Beaches

One of the best things about homes for sale in Encinitas is that they are located so close to beautiful beaches. If you are looking for homes for sale in Encinitas then you will want to know about the sand replenishment project to widen some of  Encinitas residents’ favorite beaches.

The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) 2012 Regional Beach Sand Project (RBSP) will see beaches including Moonlight Beach, Batiquitos Beach, and Cardiff Beach widened with the addition of 1.4 million cubic yards of sand. This will provide environmental, economic and recreational benefits for residents and tourists.

Sand to be used in the project will be dredged from deposits off of the shoreline with the addition of the sand to the beaches occurring in September and into October.

Specifically regarding the additions made to Moonlight Beach, you will see sand being added starting at the existing restroom and extending to the north and south, with a total of 92,000 cubic yards of sand to be added there alone.

As an Encinitas Realtor and Encinitas resident I am personally excited about the additions being made to the beaches and I hope that if you are looking to purchase Encinitas real estate that you choose to do so with a skilled Encinitas real estate agent.
