Linda Moore Explores the San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy

Recently, I joined Jenn Morris and Doug Gibson on the American Dream show to explore and discuss the beautiful San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy. The conservancy includes seven miles of trails and several types of habitats including the salt marsh lagoon. Doug Gibson, the executive director and principle scientist of the San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy, told me and Jenn all about the history of the conservancy. The land was saved by a duck hunting club from developments before the conservancy organization started. Then thirty years ago, the conservancy took over the land and petitioned for several grants to make the habitats healthier and the trails better. We then discussed how it’s important to make the community aware of such amazing amenities that are close by to them. It’s sad how many people can go on living in a community without knowing about what is down the street from their home. When you tell people about a place like the conservancy you inspire them to get out behind their computers and be outside.
