Perfect Turkey Stuffing Recipe for Thanksgiving Dinner

Hopefully you are getting your home in Encinitas prepared for your family, friends and guests for Thanksgiving dinner and you are getting all the dishes you plan on serving prepared. To continue on with my series of posts on recipes for Thanksgiving dinner, I will talk today about a recipe for turkey stuffing which you can use for your dinner in a week and a half. Turkey stuffing is a perfect compliment to cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving dinner that I talked about in the last post, and you will no doubt hear just as many rave reviews for this stuffing as you will for the cranberry sauce. This turkey stuffing recipe is for a 20 pound turkey with extras for leftovers, so plan ahead when you adjust the amount for portions.

For this Recipe for Turkey Stuffing, you will need:

2 Teaspoons each of Rosemary, Sage, Marjoram, Thyme, and Savory
2 Teaspoons Parsley
2 Bay Leaves
A Box of Prepackaged Season Stuffing, or torn pieces of White Bread, Wheat Bread, Rye Bread – or a combination of all or some of them, that’s up to you!
½ Teaspoon of Shaved Nutmeg
Garlic Clove (Shaved)
2 or 3 Extra Large Eggs
2 Onions
8 Cut and Chopped Celery Stalks
16 Tablespoons of Butter
2 Quarts of Chicken Stock
Salt and Pepper

Preheat Oven to 350 if Cooking Stuffing By Itself
Tear pieces of and Mix all Bread in a Very Large Bowl
Cook Butter in Pan on Medium to High Heat
Add Onions, Chopped Celery, Shaved Garlic Clove, 2 Bay Leaves to the Pan and Stir
Salt and Pepper the Mixture to Taste
Cook for 20 minutes on Medium to High Heat until the Celery turns clear and the onions turn brown
Remove Bay Leaves and Lower Heat
Add Rosemary, Sage, Marjoram, Thyme, and Savory to the mixture and Stir
Remove Mixture from Stove and Add to the Bread Mixture
Pour 1 Quart Chicken Stock into the Mixture
Add More Bread and/or Chicken Stock as Needed
Add 2 or 3 Beaten Eggs to the Mixture
Add Parsley to the Mixture
Stir Everything for Consistency

Cook the stuffing mix for half hour to an hour, all depending on your variation of chicken stock and bread. Turkey stuffing is all about you and what you think is best, so start paying attention around a half hour to tell when it is done.

Remember that if you plan on having a deep fried turkey that you can not stuff a turkey that is deep fried. However, this recipe for the best turkey stuffing is an excellent compliment to deep fried turkey, or any turkey at all for Thanksgiving Dinner at your Encinitas home. Just be sure you make enough for leftovers the next day!
