Celebrate the Longest Day of the Year

Even in relaxing Southern California, I feel that time flies super fast! It seems like the short days of December were yesterday but in reality the Summer solstice is only a week away! For those unfamiliar with the term, the summer solstice marks the longest day of the year. The word is Latin in origination and literally means “sun stands still.” In the Northern Hemisphere, it lies on Thursday, June 17th, of next week. The day brings on many different traditions and celebrations across the World’s cultures which can also be seen here in Southern California.

Those with homes in Del Mar should look into the celebratory event hosted by the Del Mar Village Association. The event, Summer Solstice in Del Mar, Will be held on June 17th at 5 pm and last until 8 pm at the Powerhouse Park. It will be an especially exquisite opportunity to celebrate the arrival of the summer by enjoying live music, sampling the finest California wines and brews as well as enjoying the works of the best Del Mar restaurants. The location of the event even further adds to its amazing qualities—it is held on the beach!

The event does sell out and it is encouraged that you buy tickets to the Summer Solstice in Del Mar in advance. Whether or not you attend the event, make it a point to step outside of your Del Mar home next Thursday and enjoy yourself on the longest day of the year!
