Holiday Lights in Encinitas at the Garden of Lights

I just love this time of year around the holidays. Now that I did all of my Christmas shopping while the Cyber Monday sales were too good to pass up, I can sit back and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the holidays in Encinitas. One of my favorite things to do in Encinitas for the holidays is to check out the holiday lights in Encinitas. If a simple drive through some neighborhoods in Encinitas with Christmas music on in the car just isn’t enough for you, then you might be interested in seeing the holiday lights at the San Diego Botanic Garden!

Starting next week December 9, the “Garden of Lights” at the San Diego Botanic Garden will illuminate after dark powered by over 100,000 lights! You must see the Nutcracker exhibit featuring over 100 Nutcrackers, or just stroll through the poinsettia garden as you listen to daily music after dark all month long until Christmas Eve. There will be horse drawn carriages for those interested in a sleigh ride through the gardens, and cook yourself some s’mores by the campfire! And the kids will have lots of fun whether they are creating holiday crafts to take home, enjoy some of the seasonal story telling, and even see Santa Claus in the gazebo!

The Garden of Lights at the San Diego Botanic Garden is a fantastic way to kick off the holidays in Encinitas. Food and drinks will be served for children of all ages (even some coffee and hot mulled wine for the adults), and the Garden of Lights begins on December 9, 2010. It will run nightly through December 23, the Gardens are closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and then reopens one last week from December 26 through December 30. Grab your kids, get out of your Encinitas house, and head to the San Diego Botanic Gardens in Encinitas to enjoy some holiday cheer starting next week!
