Dia de los Ninos Celebration Encinitas Library

There’s a fun activity going on at the Encinitas library tomorrow afternoon in honor of the Dia de los Ninos / Dia de los Libros (Day of the Child / Day of the Book) celebration. Starting at 3:30 PM until 4:30 PM on April 28, the whole family can partake in some fun activities Wednesday to commemorate this day! Enjoy Mexican bingo, free refreshments, prizes from Bingo and free book giveaways for a few lucky individuals!

Dia de los Ninos / Dia de los Libros was originally established in 1925 to bring attention to the well-being and education of young children in America, but was given national attention thanks to the efforts of children book author Pat Mora in 1996. The Association for Library Service to Children helps increase public awareness of Dia de los Ninos / Dia de los Libros by having such celebrations like the one at Encinitas Library tomorrow in libraries across the United States!

This day is an important one because it will bring attention to families and people who live in Encinitas houses, as well as across Southern California and the rest of the country, the importance of reading. The message of Dia de los Ninos / Dia de los Libros also focuses on reading as a family, no matter the cultural or language backgrounds or inhibitions. It’s a day to reflect on the education of our youth, and what adults, especially parents, can do to prevent childhood illiteracy.

In my opinion, Dia de los Ninos / Dia de los Libros is a very important and special holiday to commemorate with your children. So when school is over tomorrow afternoon, pick up your kids and take a break from the daily routine and spend an hour at the Encinitas Library with other Encinitas families to honor Dia de los Ninos / Dia de los Libros. Hopefully you’ll have new books to enjoy and read with your family back at your Encinitas home after Bingo is over!

Remember to check back in on my blog for more things to do in Encinitas that I’ll be discussing throughout the summer months!
