Things to do in San Diego on July Fourth

On July Fourth, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was adopted and the United States of America was officially independent from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Today, Independence Day is celebrated with firework lit night skies, the scents of backyard barbecuing, time off work spent on the beach, and a sense of national pride. The fourth of July, seen as the highlight of the summer season, is approaching fast! Don’t worry about being bored if you stay around your Encinitas house or Carlsbad home for the long weekend, there will be plenty to do!

Celebrate American independence and traditions by attending a baseball game! The Padres will be matching up against the Houston Astros at Petco Park on the afternoon of Sunday July 4th! Grab a beer, a hotdog, and enjoy the sun as your favorite team battles on their home turf!

Next to ball games, concerts are the signature of summertime. If you live in a San Diego home or in the surrounding area, I sure hope you make it a point to attend a live show every once in a while. The Del Mar Fairgrounds will feature the famous Joan Jett and the Blackhearts—the band that made “I Love Rock n Roll” famous.

There will be plenty of firework shows in the days leading to and on the Fourth of July. Chances are that you will not have to leave the front door step of your Encinitas home or San Diego home to see or hear them!
